Ireland Rugby Shirt: The Irish shirt has remained nearly unchanged since the first one was designed and worn. Now due to the modern and professional side of the game sponsors and shirt makers Canterbury of New Zealand have given the shirt a new look incorporating a number of white lines, a more fitting style and off course sponsors logos. The old shirts carried the traditional three leafed clover however this has been updated with the reams official symbol incorporating a green and white rugby ball.

Brief History: Unknown too many people rugby fans is that a game called Caid was played for many years in Ireland which had many similarities to rugby. The game adopted the official rugby rules in 1868 and since then the game has flourished in this small country. Ireland played and lost their first test against England in 1875. Unusually each team played with 20 players. After World War 2 Ireland competed in the 5 nations with mixed results. Sadly the Ireland rugby team suffered in 1972 when both Scotland and Wales refused to play to threats against players by possibly the IRA. At the start of the professional era Ireland won the Five Nations Championship in an away game at Twickenham. Ireland biggest victory game in 2000 against the US (83-3) and its biggest lost dates back to 1992 against the All Blacks (59-6).
