Brief History: The Waratahs are an Australian Super 14 team which originally completed in the inaugural Super 12 season. The first season in 1996 was not the best for the Waratahs loosing more games than they win. However this trend of finishing mid to bottom of the table continued until 2002 where they reached the semi final to finish third overall. Other seasons worth mentioning are 2005 where the team lost in the final to the Crusaders and in 2008 where they saw a repeat of the result in 2005. 2006 was also a good year for the team reaching the semi-final only to loose to another New Zealand team been the Hurricanes. The last 5 years has seen a dramatic improvement for the Waratahs in terms of results. Supporters of the team feel it’s only a matter of time before they take a super 14 title. The Waratahs Rugby team is based at the Sydney football stadium which has state of the art facilities and can pack up to 45,500 fans in.
